I will be connecting the grove to the story of Charles Bell, and how Bucknell’s diversity efforts have progressed to what they are today. I will interview professor Cymone Fourshey of the History Department, Dean Vernese Edghill-Walden of DEI, and Merrett R. Stierheim ‘58 (a Bucknell alum associated with MLK’s 1958 visit), and Isabella Carrega who conducted a genealogy on Charles Bell.
I plan to make this a visual article (Like the NYT Doomsday Clock article) including photographs from the archives about multiple moments showcasing Bucknell’s commitment to diversity over the years, as well as video interviews with multiple sources.
One interactive webpage (article) broken into 3 sections via a timeline:
– Charles Bell and the Grove
– MLK’s 1958 Visit to Bucknell
– Today and the future of diversity at Bucknell
